Help - AP Studio Art concentration

I'm in AP art, and the time has come to choose a concentration for the rest of the year. I wanted to do portraits of close friends and family, but my art teacher said that was too general. I definitely want to do something including portraits, but I'm not sure what. I can't think of any good ideas.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
